ISOM Lecture Course 2021
The Japanese Society of Obstetric Medicine (JSOM) was established in 2015 with the goal of consolidating the identity of maternal physicians, improving the quality of medical care by expanding their network, and contributing to society through the development of maternal medicine. The Society holds an annual academic meeting and has established a maternity internal medicine provider system, and has prepared an e-learning environment for that purpose.
Now, in order to spread the insight of obstetric medicine, the lecture course of the International Society of Obstetric Medicine (ISOM) is to be held for the first time in Japan. In this lecture course, overseas lecturers and Japanese lecturers will give lectures on important themes on obstetric medicine. Concerning Maternity Internal Medicine, Dr. Chen, the chairman of ISOM, and Dr. Wada, the first deputy director of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, will talk about the drug safety information service (TIS) during pregnancy with Dr. Chambers, the former chairman of TIS in North America. I will speak as the director of the Japan TIS. In addition, Dr. Shah of Brown University and Dr. Iwata of Kanazawa University will give lectures on renal disease and/or hypertension, which are the most important themes for medical treatment in obstetric medicine, and Dr. Lapinsky of Toronto University and Dr. Ikeda of Mie University will give lectures on obstetric emergency. This is a valuable opportunity for such authoritative lecturers to come together and talk on the theme of obstetric medicine. We very much look forward to your participation.
